I love the summer in St. Augustine. It’s great music at Ponte Vedra Concert Hall, Saint Augustine Amphitheatre and all of our local venues, not to mention the FREE Music by the Sea Concert Series and Concerts in the plaza each week. (See listing below.) Then we also have free movies outdoors. Free Movies by the Bay presented by Ripley’s St Augustine Attractions and the City of St. Augustine Municipal Marina. Movies are located behind the Bayfront Mini Golf at the City Marina. Bring chairs or blankets for the show. Movies begin at 8:30pm. This week is “Monsters University.” Starting in a couple of weeks will be another movie night. Starting June 22 the Saint Augustine Amphitheater will have movies on Sunday nights. Check back here for the weekly offering.

Vilano Beach / Old Town St Augustine / The Island (Anastasia Island)
At the St Augustine Amphitheater and Ponte Vedra Concert Hall:
Thursday, June 12 – Ponte Vedra Concert Hall – Acoustic Alchemy – For nearly 25 years, Acoustic Alchemy has pushed the limits of the acoustic guitar’s potential by embracing a spectrum of musical styles ranging from straight ahead jazz to folk to rock to world music and beyond. In the two and a half decades since their earliest recordings – despite a tragic setback in the late 1990s and the inherent challenges of the 21st century music industry – the group has assembled and sustained a vast and loyal following that stretches well beyond their U.K. origins. 7:00 PM | Show starts @ 8:00PM
Friday, June 13 – Ponte Vedra Concert Hall – An Evening with Ottmar Liebert & Luna Negra – Ottmar Liebert and his band Luna Negra formed in 1989 to the distinct New Flamenco sound. Their first recorded Marita: Shadows and Storms was a self-produced album. Higher Octave Music released a remade edition titled Nouveau Flamenco in 1990. Throughout his career, Ottmar has released 25 albums including his first solo guitar recording titled One Guitar in 2006. His newest releases are Up Close (2008), which is a binaural dummy head surround sound recording, and The Scent of Light (2008) a labor of five years. He has received a total of 38 Gold and Platinum certifications in the United States and five Grammy nominations. He also received certifications in Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. 7:00 PM | Show starts @ 8:00PM
Saturday, June 14 – Saint Augustine Amphitheatre – Counting Crows with special guest Toad the Wet Sprocket – Counting Crows are one of those bands you follow for the long haul. For those that first heard them opening for Bob Dylan long ago, or subbing for Van Morrison one memorable night at the rock and Roll Hall of Fame, much of the soundtrack of our times comes from the Crows – from their vivid musical landscapes as well as the feverish brilliance of singer/songwriter Adam Duritz. Counting Crows hails from the San Francisco Bay area and consist of Adam Duritz (vocals), David Bryson (guitar), Charles Gillingham (keyboards), Dan Vickrey (guitar), Jim Bogios (drums), and Millard Powers (bass). Counting Crows success dates back to their 1993 debut release August and Everything After and the hit single “Mr. Jones.” The band recently hit #1 with the song “Accidentally In Love,” which was featured on the Shrek 2 soundtrack, as well as nominations in 2005 for a Grammy Award, a Golden Globe Award, and an Academy Award for the track. Counting Crows has sold over 20 million records worldwide. Gates 5:00 PM | Show starts @ 6:30PM
