Live Music & Nightlife for October 7th – 13th in St Augustine, FL

More fabulous entertainment around town this week. Thursday, October 9 at the Ponte Vedra Concert Hall is an Evening with Richard Marx. Marx is the only male artists in history to have his first seven singles reach the Top 5 on the Billboard charts. Thursday through Saturday you really don’t want to miss The Addams Family at The Limelight Theatre – The weird and wonderful family comes to devilishly delightful life in The Addams Family at the Limelight Theatre.  Performance times are 7:30 p.m. Thursday – Saturday and 2 p.m. on Sunday.  Friday is the Greek Festival! Opa! Greek Food, live Greek music, dancers, arts & crafts vendors, and a kid’s center with games, rides, & more at Francis Field. Friday 4-9 p.m., Saturday 11 a.m. – 9 p.m., and Sunday, 11 a.m. – 5 p.m. Admission is $3 for adults and free for those 12 and under. Free admission for active military & family. Saturday at St. Augustine Amphitheater is Earth, Wind & Fire! The seventh-ranked top-selling group of all time, Earth, Wind and Fire have won eight Grammy Awards, four American Music Awards and have eight R&B #1 hits to their credit. This will be one concert not to miss this fall. And to top off our weekend.. This Sunday is the St. Augustine Record Fair at the Amphitheatre. Live band, DJ between bands, bounce house for the kiddos plus food and drinks will be available. Also on Sunday at the Ponte Vedra Concert Hall is the Florida Chamber Music Concert. Thursday, October 9 – Ponte Vedra Concert Hall – An Evening with Richard Marx – The Chicago native has sold more than 30 million albums worldwide, starting with his self-titled debut which went to #8 and spawned four Top 5 singles, including the chart-topping “Hold on to the Nights,” with “Don’t Mean Nothing” earning him a GRAMMY nomination for Best Male Rock Vocal Performance. The follow-up, 1989’s Repeat Offender, was even more successful, hitting #1 and going quadruple-platinum with two #1 singles in “Satisfied” and “Right Here Waiting.” When both Rush Street (with two #1 AC hits in “Keep Coming Back” and “Hazard”) and Paid Vacation (with its #1 AC hit, “Now and Forever”) went platinum, Marx achieved a seven-year string of triumphs that rivaled any in pop-rock music history. Saturday, October 11 – St. Augustine Amphitheatre – Earth, Wind & Fire – One of the most successful groups in the 20th century with a sound that spans musical divides and genres. Earth, Wind and Fire started a revolution with their mix of R&B and jazz in the 1970s and they haven’t looked back since. Maurice White is credited as the band’s founding member but other members have included Philip Bailey, Verdine White, Ralph Johnson, Larry Dunn and Al McKay.

As a group, Earth, Wind and Fire have received 20 Grammy nominations, including two group wins. Maurice and Bailey have both also won solo awards during this time. The group has been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Vocal Group Hall of Fame and has its very own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Notable hits by the group include “Shining Star,” “Devotion,” “That’s the Way of the World,” “Reasons,” “Boogie Wonderland” and “Let’s Groove.

Sunday, October 12 – St. Augustine Amphitheatre – St Augustine Record Fair – This free and family-friendly event features over a dozen music dealers from across the Southeast offering thousands of new and used vinyl records, CDs, music memorabilia and collectibles, turntable supplies, posters, and many other music-related products.

The St. Augustine Record Fair will also feature live music by several local bands, live DJ sets by Hear Hear DJ Services, and children’s activities including a bounce house and face painting! Food and drinks will also be available for purchase onsite. The event is free and open to the public with ample free parking in the Amphitheatre parking lot.

After the Record Fair, there will be a very special “Live from The Backroom at the St. Augustine Amphitheatre” performance by Walter Martin (of The Walkmen).  Doors to The Backroom will open at 7pm, the show will start at 8pm.
