LaCURA Salt Spa in Saint Augustine, Florida

salt Now there’s a new way to live the salt life in St Augustine, FL. Check out LaCURA’s new salt room that recently opened on the island  just over the Bridge of Lions.

My mom has been raving about the benefits of salt therapy. She suffers from asthma and swears salt therapy has brought her relief. She has been visiting a salt room in Connecticut and keeps asking me to check it out on my next visit. I was thrilled when I heard a salt room was opening in Saint Augustine. The pollen in Florida is at yet another peak and my allergies are going strong. Move over Claritan, I’m trying salt therapy.

Salt Life is now open for lunch and dinner. We will update our information and reviews as we try new food items.

1779077_617347728335566_6124390843502454065_nThe new Salt Life Food Shack in St Augustine Beach, Florida is  “BEACHY KEEN.”

St. Augustine has been waiting for this restaurant to open for a very long time and for good reason. The food is beyond fantastic! The location across the street from St. Augustine Beach Pier doesn’t hurt either, nor do the great prices and fabulous views. From the roof top deck you have the best of both worlds; sunset on one side and the Atlantic ocean on the other.

Now that I have had the grand tour, I can see why they took a little longer to open. Perfection! The place is perfect. The decor is the signature Salt Life colors of Turquoise & watery blues mixed with a lot of Teak colored wood. It has Beach written all over it with a casual, relaxed, resort like feel. Salt Life is the perfect place to “Eat, Drink and Be Salty.” Read More→

Harry’s Seafood- Dining Under the Stars in Historic St. Augustine

Why are we hooked on Harry’s?

THE COURTYARD.

“Laissez Les Bon Temps Rouler.” Don’t ask me to pronounce that, especially after I’ve had a Hurricane but it means,“Let the Good Times Roll”

And roll they have – time and time again for us at Harry’s.

Although this place is called Harry’s Seafood, we don’t go there expecting grilled fresh catch. This place has Louisiana and New Orleans written all over it – we’re talking jambalaya, Etoufee, Gumbo, Mardi Gras beads and Hurricanes.

Harry’s is reasonably priced with consistently good food in the very heart of historic Saint Augustine. But let me tell you about  THE COURTYARD… Read More→

Cap’s on the Water- Spectacular Sunsets and Waterfront Dining

Why is Cap’s on The Water a Top pick  for Family and Friends?

The Atmosphere. The Perfect Mix of Water Views, Spectacular Sunsets, Majestic Oaks Draped in Spanish Moss Swaying in the Gentle Breeze and Great Food and Drink.

Located between Saint Augustine and Ponte Vedra, you will find a gem of a restaurant on the Inter-Coastal Waterway. Caps is well known for its award-winning wine selection of over 400 wines – but I’ll take the “Goombay Smash”. They make the famous St Augustine signature drink better than most – a delicious concoction of Rums, Brandy and fruit juice. Read More→

You Won’t Lose Your MoJo Eating this BBQ in St Augustine

I grew up in South Florida where grilling and BBQ goes hand in hand. In the summer we would spend time in Arkansas and in Memphis. My grandparents lived there, therefore, I grew up on BBQ. So when I heard a new BBQ place moved into town I had to check it out. My husband Wayne and I went to MoJo Old City BBQ  on our day off and BOY were  we  pleasantly surprised! We ordered the BBQ rib tips for an appetizer.  I had the fried catfish and Wayne had the pulled pork Quesada for dinner. They were both delicious!

I heard from a friend that the onion rings were very good there. The way she described them made me want to go out immediately and try the onion rings. I waited until Monday my next day off and went to lunch with my sister in-law. I went there for the onion rings UNTIL my sister in law said, “have you had the BBQ Chicken Nacho’s yet?” That is what we ordered Nachos and rings. Once again, we were not disappointed. Everything was so flavorful. I can see why my friend raved about the onion rings, they were the best I’ve had so far. There is so much chicken on the nachos it was hard to believe it was an appetizer portion. I thought to myself, I could bring an order of the nacho to the salon and feed all four girls for sure.

The restaurant is quite large, they have indoor and outdoor seating. The outdoor patios are “Dog Friendly” too. It has a rustic atmosphere, and the service is very good. This is a family friendly restaurant. It is a real pit BBQ so the ribs and chicken are delicious and everything is fresh. The sweet tea is brewed perfect and so refreshing. The Catfish I ordered was a fresh catch. You can definitely  taste the difference. I will be back with friends! In addition, the way this town is buzzing about the new BBQ place downtown  there was no doubt it would be a local’s favorite in no time!
